About RANKNESIA

A transparent, data-driven global university ranking project based on open data.

What is RANKNESIA?

RANKNESIA is a global university ranking system built on open research data from OpenAlex. Unlike traditional rankings, which rely on reputation surveys and paid data, RANKNESIA uses only publicly verifiable data that is freely accessible to anyone.

Why Was It Created?

The existing university rankings have several issues:

Non-transparent methodology and difficult to verify

Dependent on subjective reputation surveys

Data sourced from paid services (Scopus, Clarivate)

Bias toward Western and English-language universities

Small universities and those from developing countries are often underrepresented

RANKNESIA is here to address these issues with a more open, inclusive, and verifiable approach.

RANKNESIA’s Values

Transparency

All formulas and data can be publicly verified.

Inclusivity

Universities from all over the world, not just the West.

Objectivity

No subjective surveys, only quantitative data.

Accountability

Penalty system for universities that violate ethics.

Disclaimer

RANKNESIA is an independent project and is not affiliated with any existing ranking organizations or other university ranking bodies. This ranking is not the sole measure of a university’s quality and should be used in conjunction with other sources of information.
